(This was a very old blog lost in time, thought of sharing with you - written on Apr 25' 2006)
First we had a presentation on college, and then there was a QA session between the moderators (who were SIIB students) and us. Since I swallowed each and every word of the SIIB prospectus and there was a very beautiful senior, I was not interested in the presentation but prepared myself to ball at least one bouncer to the girl. But before that she left the room and I patiently started waiting for the real action.
After that, we had conversation among us (first time), and it was a good one. But the two odd fellows were still in themselves, one of them barked like a pomerian dog throughout the GD, was now relaxing; other who kept mum during the GD, was now starring at the floor like there was Catherine Zeta Jones lying in bikini. Here I made few friends.
Next we were having Group Task, sounds like a big combat operation, isn’t it…, and we were asked to use a stack of white papers to made anything related with airplane/s. But before that the moderator asked us about our experience in the GD and the people who were not able to (read allowed to) speak in the GD didn’t left a single stone unturned to grab the chance of barking. Well we started our task and finally came up with an airport and lots of airplanes parked there. It’s a good felling to do what you always wanted to do in your childhood, wasting lots of white sheets just to make stupid planes….
After that we were seated in a room and given a paper each to write an essay. Topic was “Honesty is not the best policy”. It’s always true buddy, what to write about that. I started in confusion and got my first line entirely meaningless, so I had to cross that one, Crap…! was the first reaction. Anyway I ended it well and I think that was a good one. After that we had to show our documents. And there was my dream girl, same sexy senior (SSS)…. So I use every trick and technique, earlier told me by my lucky friends, lucky means those who were having GF, to talk to her or at least grab her little attention. But as usual I failed…. After that we had lunch (read it breakfast, even less than that for me), and then interview.
Holding a (small) cup of tea, we made ourselves comfortable on the stairs and started chatting, but seriously every one of us was just waiting for the final hurdle. We finish it off and moved back to our room. In the way I saw different rooms where the interview was going on, and I saw a smart lady also there in panel # 1” hope she will take my interview” was my second last wish for the day..!
So here came my chance, everybody wished me, I know none of them wants me to get selected, and also SSS wished me, *blushing*…! I opened the door and get in. God! She is really pretty. First question was about my name, damn! I know it; there are always some benefits of having a unique and difficult name. After that the second question was “why MBA after engineering” same sure shot again. After that there was discussion about my background and other things. And finally I receive a compliment from her, as a matter of fact, she said "I want to compliment you on……….” On what she complimented me is strictly a private matter but you can guess that I was bloody beyond happy. Anyway that interview (read it a sweet dream) finally ended and I came out.
Everybody asked about my experience and usual stuff, which I was in no mood to answer, and I tried to satisfy them, took my folder, thanked to SSS hope to see u again in siib (my last wish), and walked out (almost running). When I took the bike and gave a final look to the building, that was looking different it’s not that bad really, I don’t know why but I started liking it.
I parked the bike outside the gate and looked at the building. That was an
old building and last Deewali, this building would have been celebrated, must be
about 10 years back. I was confused, is it the
place I am suppose to give interview? Then I realized the reality, baggers are not choosers and after all you got only
two chances, screwed the first and now it’s the second…!
So it was my SIIB interview which was in Delhi , my last chance to grab any management
college seat, at least a reputed one. So I entered in to the premises and
realized that my earlier assumption was inaccurate. Last Deewali must be 20 years back, but why am I concerned to
this, I am here only for interview not admission. Anyway at the
entrance of the main hall, I saw some beautiful faces. God! Please send at least one of them in to my group.
But (I think) god was more than kind to me and when I took the slip and went to
my seat, there was not a single girl like creature in my group, forget the
beautiful one. I looked at them and desperately wished Please God! Make today as my day.
My group, as usual, consisted of all sorts of personalities. Few were smart
but not handsome (like me); few were neither handsome nor smart (like what my girlfriend thinks for me) and rests were unique piece of human
architecture (like what my ex girlfriend
thinks for me). I tried
to start the conversation but as very sincere chaps they refused to do so and
looked at me as if I was sitting there naked.
First was the GD (Case Study). So we entered in a room and seated in a semi
circle and the moderator was sitting in front of us. He gave us a
so-my-dear-children look and started speaking, first about the method and then
what not to do in the GD. It was a case study about a company which has to
layoff 20 employees and the GD was about the method which they should adopt to
inform them. Damn I never understood that, had any
butcher ever informed the chicken that you are next. Anyway, as the
moderator asked us to start there was a dead silence,
so here come the superman, and I took the chance and started
speaking. Then everybody jumped in to the circle and we finally had a good and
crowded fish market. When the GD ended I surely was at the edge above others.
Good Job Done…!

Interview
for my group had started and my no was third. When the first person came back,
he told us that a lady is taking the interview, hold
your breath, and the panel is 1. I
can’t believe that, so day is mine Cool…! And also group asked
bundles of questions to him, which he patiently answered. Mine was only one, How’s she…? which he didn’t bother to answer.
When the second fellow came back, same things repeated, with only difference,
he answered my question. Answer was only three
words “She screwed me “.
So here came my chance, everybody wished me, I know none of them wants me to get selected, and also SSS wished me, *blushing*…! I opened the door and get in. God! She is really pretty. Anyway
this was my one of the most memorable days. I went there with a wish and it was
granted. Really, that day was mine...!
